Having some check engine light issues and after reading about this on various sites it sounds like it can get costly and tricky.. There is a tsb where the throttle body sensor is replaced under warranty if under 120k miles....I think the it is sensor and or electrical related. I bought the truck new from wishn4fishin at monument but he isn't there any more. Ron craft, Baytown gmc, or turner Chevy are the closest..hoping someone has a contact . Below I copied what I posted on another forum. The AV is now my sons and he came into town from college a week ago. I knew the check engine light had been on but the codes ran at autozone were the p0420 and p0430. They said it was probably a o2 sensor. Well this past week he got the engine power reduced, service stabilink and the rough running. It also wouldn't crank after turning off...did the same thing to me...battery is fine, it just didn't try to start no noise or nothing..turn the key and nothing then will just crank....it finally cranked so yesterday I drove it and I got the same thing he did..I noticed the door locks clicked to indicating something electrical. Took it to autozone again and they said it had 17 codes including history. Some of the ones they wrote were p0420, p0430,p0106, p069e, p1682, c0035, c0561, c0899,c0900, and p0573..,,what a cluster

a code does NOT indicate a part needs changing - part stores say that. OK lets try to get a grouping and some ideas together. Here is where to start P0106, (5.3L V8 VIN 0 Auto)Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) Sensor Performance P069E (5.3L V8 VIN 0 Auto) Fuel Pump Control Module Requested MIL Illumination >>>these are cat codes the above codes may cause the issue. P0420 (5.3L V8 VIN 0 Auto)Catalyst System Low Efficiency (Bank 1) P0430 (5.3L V8 VIN 0 Auto) Catalyst System Low Efficiency (Bank 2) >>>Electrical issues- any modifications- remote starter, added devices ie radio ? P0573 (5.3L V8 VIN 0 Auto) Brake Switch Circuit 1 High Voltage P1682 (5.3L V8 VIN 0 Auto)Ignition 1 Switch Circuit 2 >>>ABS issue - special scanner needed consider last group to work C0035 ABS L/F wheel sensor C0561 ABS disabled C0899 ABS EBCM low voltage C0900 ABS EBCM high voltage.. Have you done any modifications, additions, changes to vehicle? basically is it STOCK just like GM made it....

It is a stock vehicle minus it does have a lift kit and 35s. So far I have replaced boths cats, replaced the TPS, cleaned the throttle body, cleaned the mass air flow sensor, replaced the brake sensor and gas pedal sensor, and changed out the negative battery cable. Discover more forum OBD Codes Electrical wiring The symptoms now are the door will click locked and then you its about to go into reduced power mode. Strange thing is, sometimes I get the message, sometimes I don't....Then the other day the ABS and traction lights came on with the service stabiltrak and traction control messages. Another time it just hesitated after the doors locked but did not go into reduced power mode. This last time it did it and I had to kill the truck, and tried cranking in 20 times before it finally cranked into normal run mode. The other times it would crank into a rough idle with no engine power to move the vehicle. My mechanic is clueless he keeps saying he needs to drive it...should he be able to dive into the freeze frame data to see when this incidents happen? It has to be a harness, or bad module. I cant have my son keep driving this truck as its dangerous when this happens and heaven forbid he is on a freeway.

It has the factory navigation radio and I have noticed it was click off with no sound every so often only to come back on....

Any suggestions on what to tell my mechanic to check appreciated? I had it at GM dealer for the TPS recall and then they wanted to charge me 1750 to change cats....so I told them to pound sand and took it to my guy. That fixed the check engine line but just yesterday it came back on with the same cat codes???? kev2 wrote: a code does NOT indicate a part needs changing - part stores say that. You will need a scanner to go thru this list. do the powertrain P codes.... should be fast. the MAP issue and the FPCM issue. yes freeze frame and live data will get a picture, AS for the cats it will be a look at o2 sensor voltages pre and post cat. Do you plug ANYTHING into the ALDL - the underdash connector where code are accessed? Any ignition key issues- need to wiggle key, does not always rotate or energize circuits? PIT 4816E- might want to have your tech look at that bulletin. WAG- check alternator output , be sure to check DIODES.... double EBCM circuit voltage etc.... might be an ign switch issue

One day it would not start...you would turn the key and get power but would not start...I went back inside and came back 10 min later and it started right up.

Anonymous 2016-06-03 13:48

the only thing Ive ever put into underdash connector is a speed calibrator for the tires. kev2 wrote: You will need a scanner to go thru this list. do the powertrain P codes.... should be fast. the MAP issue and the FPCM issue. yes freeze frame and live data will get a picture, AS for the cats it will be a look at o2 sensor voltages pre and post cat. have tech look at this GM - PIT 4816E- something like a TSB. that ign switch might be a place to look, the electric switch not the lock. speed calibrator for the tires. that was used once just to set tire size, not a regularly connected tool. Its those insurance, drive rite, spy on driver devices, GPS types that cause all types of issues... think of this as 3 issues as I grouped them wont overwhelm you then...

we are on same page for engine option... what is question about 175 amp - replace what ? As mentioned using a scanner will get a better picture.

Well that gm bulletin recommended cleaning or replacing the mega fuse? I'm also reading the positive battery cable has a bad crimp problem in 08 models..also bad connection from mega fuse into fuse box... Where should I start? How can I tell if the fuse is arcing? kev2 wrote: we are on same page for engine option... what is question about 175 amp - replace what ? As mentioned using a scanner will get a better picture.

Also all codes were cleared by my mechanic so nothing is showing in any modules.

Anonymous 2016-06-05 07:59

I cleaned positive battery cable, the mega fuse box connectors and replaced the mega fuse yesterday. kev2 wrote: we are on same page for engine option... what is question about 175 amp - replace what ? As mentioned using a scanner will get a better picture.

your mechanic cleared ALL codes, what are symptoms - or returning codes at this time?

Nothing has happened the last couple of days with minimal driving...check engine light came on but no weird electrical things. At first crank there seems to be some rattling and seemed to me to smell exhausty but after few seconds sounds normal. After I put in new fuse with battery disconnected the check engine light is off. I will drive truck tomorrow at least 35 miles.

Anonymous 2016-06-07 08:47

Yesterday only thing that happened was door locks clicked and truck hesitated but never went into limp mode...assuming the connection for the mega fuse or cleaning the positive battery cable had something to do with it..or maybe lucky..drove 40 miles and it only paused twice in the first 5 miles..then fine after that.
