2008 Chevrolet Cobalt P0016 and P0341 Error Codes: Diagnosis and Fixes After Sensor Replacement

Model: 2008 Chev Colbalt Fault Code: P0016 Posted: 2015-05-04 07:40

I own a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt with engine codes P0016 and P0341. I have already replaced both the crankshaft position sensor (CKP) and camshaft position sensor (CMP). All wiring connections appear intact, yet the vehicle continues to display these error codes. What should I check next to resolve this issue? Any guidance on possible underlying causes or diagnostic steps would be greatly appreciated.

Which engine variant do you have — 2.0L, 2.2L, or 2.4L? Check the camshaft timing and chain alignment. Possible causes include a misaligned timing chain or worn components. Refer to OBD-II code P0016 for detailed explanations. Did you perform the CKP sensor relearn procedure after replacement?

The engine is a 2.2L. What exactly do you mean by 'CKP learn' or 'relearn'? Is it a specific diagnostic step required after replacing the crankshaft position sensor?

There is a relearn procedure when CKP sensors are replaced, scanner should have procedure. Start with the cam timing check. could be a chain. with your scanner check - the CMP CKP offset it may help explain the correlation issue.
