2008 Buick Lucerne - OBD2 Code 0411: Secondary Air System Fault Diagnosis and Repair Guidance
I'm currently troubleshooting a secondary air system issue on my 2008 Buick Lucerne, which is showing OBD2 diagnostic code 0411. I don't have access to an official wiring diagram for the secondary air system, so I'm considering bypassing the bypass valve by jumpering its components—specifically the pump and fan—to see if it can temporarily resolve the issue and allow me to pass my emissions inspection. The pump/fan component functions normally when tested, but I'm uncertain about which of the four wires on the bypass valve is connected to the solenoid. This raises concerns: why would a 2008 Buick Lucerne with only 50,000 miles be experiencing this issue? Any insight into the correct wiring or recommended troubleshooting steps would be greatly appreciated.
It's strongly advised against bypassing the secondary air system valve. Doing so may cause further damage to the air injection system and could lead to increased repair costs down the line. Instead, it's better to have a certified technician diagnose and repair the issue properly using the correct diagnostic tools and OEM procedures.
