2007 Saturn Vue P0305 P0306 P0303 P0300 P0420 - Car Won't Start with Clicking Noise, Possible Starter or Battery Issue

Model: 2007 Saturn Vue Fault Code: P0300 Posted: 2018-08-13 22:14

My 2007 Saturn Vue is not starting and produces fast clicking noises even when connected to a battery charger. The vehicle shows multiple diagnostic trouble codes: P0305, P0306, P0303, P0300 (random misfires), and P0420 (catalyst efficiency below threshold). I'm trying to diagnose the issue myself. Could this be caused by a faulty solenoid, starter motor, or loose battery connections? Or is there a more serious underlying problem?

Ensure all battery terminals and connections are clean, shiny, and securely tightened. Corrosion or loose wires can cause starting issues and contribute to misfire codes like P0305-P0306.

Even though the battery was tested as 'good' initially, it was actually defective and couldn't hold a charge. After replacing it with a new one, the car started properly and the misfire codes cleared. This experience highlights how a weak battery can mimic starter or ignition problems in a 2007 Saturn Vue.
