2007 Mazda CX-7 P0012 Fault Code: Hard Starting and Stalling Issues After Replacing Camshaft Position Sensor

Model: 2007 Mazda CX7 Fault Code: P0012 Posted: 2016-02-07 18:09

I recently replaced the camshaft position sensor on my 2007 Mazda CX-7, but the car still struggles to start, especially on the first attempt. It often hesitates during startup, though it eventually starts successfully on the second try. Despite this, the check engine light remains illuminated. I'm wondering if there could be another underlying issue related to the P0012 fault code, or whether replacing the sensor was sufficient to resolve the problem.

The check engine light is still on, and the only detected code is P0012. The technician who replaced the camshaft position sensor mentioned that the light should turn off after driving approximately 25 miles. Is this accurate for a 2007 Mazda CX-7 with a P0012 code? If not, what other components might be causing this issue?
