2007 LBZ 6.6 Duramax Engine Power Loss and P0102 MAF Code Diagnosis

Model: 2007 LBZ 6.6 Duramax Fault Code: P0102 Posted: 2015-03-03 23:57

I'm experiencing a serious issue with my 2007 LBZ 6.6L Duramax engine. While driving, the check engine light came on and the truck suddenly lost most of its power—though it still ran. I drove about half a mile before having to shut it off. After several idle cycles, the truck idles smoothly but completely lacks acceleration power. When in drive with the foot on the brake, the engine bogs down severely, almost dying, and only stabilizes when shifted back to park and re-idled. The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is P0102 — Mass/Volume Air Flow Circuit Low Input — with no other related codes. The engine runs fine at idle but fails to deliver power during acceleration. I've noticed excessive fumes and some white or blue smoke, especially under load. The ECU was showing an idle MAF reading of 00.00, fluctuating up to 00.60, then jumping to 12.50, and bouncing between 12 and 15 g/s at 1200 RPM — is this within normal operating range? Could a faulty Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor be the root cause of the power loss and smoke? Or is the P0100 code simply indicating a symptom of another underlying issue? I've already ordered a new MAF sensor to test whether it resolves the problem. Any insights, experiences, or suggestions from owners of 2007 LBZ Duramax trucks would be greatly appreciated.
