2007 Ford Taurus P2195 and P0171 O2 Sensor Issues: Vacuum Leak or MAF Cleaning Solution?

Model: 2007 Ford Taurus Fault Code: P0171 Posted: 2013-12-28 16:03

I'm experiencing persistent engine misfires and diagnostic codes P2195 and P0171 on my 2007 Ford Taurus. I've already cleaned the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor, but the vehicle continues to run roughly. Given that P0171 points to a lean condition on the rear bank of the engine, should I consider swapping out the oxygen sensors? Or is there another more likely cause? I'm looking for reliable troubleshooting steps based on common causes in this model year and trim.

Start by inspecting for vacuum leaks anywhere downstream of the MAF sensor, including the inlet air tubing, PCV hoses, and all vacuum lines. Be sure to check elbows and connections—vacuum leaks are a common cause of P0171 and P2195 in 2007 Ford Taurus models. If no leak is found, focus on intake manifold gaskets as the next likely culprit.
