2007 Ford Explorer P0743 Code After Solenoid Pack and Valve Body Replacement

Model: 2007 Explorer Fault Code: P0743 Posted: 2015-12-13 17:17

I recently replaced the solenoid pack and valve body in my 2007 Ford Explorer with a 5R55S transmission, but the P0743 diagnostic code is still appearing. Despite the replacement, the issue persists. Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot or resolve this problem?

P0743 indicates a Torque Control Circuit Electrical fault. Please verify the integrity of the violet/grey wire running from the transmission output (solenoid pack) to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).

P074-3 is typically a circuit-related issue. Begin by inspecting the wiring harness connector at the transmission—ensure it is clean, free of corrosion, and not physically damaged or pinched.

I cleaned the harness connector thoroughly, but the P0743 code remained. After further research, I replaced the torque converter. However, the vehicle now stalls in drive and exhibits shuttering when coming to a stop. Any insights or additional troubleshooting steps?

This is most likely a circuit issue—replacing the torque converter is not a typical fix for P0743. A wiring diagram and a digital multimeter (DVOM) are recommended to diagnose further. As a potential workaround, check the brake switch (not the brake light circuit), as it may affect the TCC (Torque Converter Clutch) control signal. Also, verify if cruise control functions properly—this could provide valuable diagnostic clues.
