2007 Chevy Uplander B0092 Fault: Passenger Presence Sensor Performance Issue with Airbag Light Flashing

Model: 2007 Chevy Uplander Fault Code: B0092 Posted: 2016-09-12 19:37

Hi everyone, I own a 2007 Chevrolet Uplander (Braun Entervan variant, wheelchair-accessible van with lowered floor) that is displaying the airbag warning light on the dashboard and has triggered Diagnostic Trouble Code B0092 — Passenger Presence Sensor, Poor Performance. When I turn the ignition on, the airbag status light flashes between 'on' and 'off' for about 5 seconds before settling to 'off'. I've found conflicting advice online: some sources point to a sensor located in or under the front passenger seat cushion, while others suggest the issue may be related to the passenger restraint system — particularly the left-side restraints. This van has both front seats that are removable and each comes with its own wiring harness. I’ve tested the passenger seat wiring for continuity and found it intact. I even replaced the entire passenger seat module from a junkyard unit (same color, same part numbers) with no improvement. I’m considering selling this vehicle, but I don’t want to put someone else at risk due to potential airbag malfunction. Does anyone have experience with this specific B0092 code on the 2007 Uplander? Is it likely a wiring issue, sensor failure, or something related to seat restraints? Any insights would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! P.S. I’ve tried using a scan tool but haven’t been able to perform a PPS rezeroing procedure — not sure if that’s required for the system to recognize new seats or reset after changes.

DTC B0092: Passenger Presence Sensor (PPS) Performance Issue The Sensing and Diagnostic System (SDS) is not receiving a valid verification signal from the Passenger Presence Sensor (PPS). This means the system cannot confirm that a passenger is present. To resolve this, you must ensure the PPS is properly recognized by the SDS. If seats are changed or modified, the system needs to be reprogrammed using a scan tool — specifically through the PPS rezeroing procedure. Without proper programming, even with a new seat module, the system may still report poor performance and trigger B009 or fail to activate airbags correctly. I recommend contacting your local GM dealership for professional diagnosis and reprogramming. This is especially critical in wheelchair-accessible vans where passenger presence detection affects safety systems.
