Thanks for the advice! I'm not very experienced with car mechanics, so I took my 2007 Chevy Equinox to an AAMCO shop (with good reviews) for diagnosis. They were hesitant and said it might or might not be fixed—suggesting a valve body replacement and TCM reprogramming. I then visited a Chevrolet dealership, where they initially couldn't reproduce the issue during testing and claimed no error codes were present. After holding my car overnight, they reported finding P0711 and P0700 codes. They advised a $240 TCM reprogram. Since AAMCO also suggested similar repairs, I decided to proceed with them. However, after driving it home, the issue returned—rocking during acceleration. I'm now worried that we're just spending more money on unnecessary fixes and not addressing the root cause. Where is the transmission temperature sensor located? Is replacing it difficult? I'd prefer a DIY fix or a reliable independent mechanic to avoid dealership costs.

If you're still experiencing symptoms after repair attempts, consider returning to the shop that performed the work and request a full retest. Often, issues like intermittent shifting can be resolved with proper diagnostics or sensor recalibration—don't assume it's a major transmission failure without verified data.
