2007 Cadillac SRX4 AWD Fault Codes P0017 and P0523 - Solutions & TSB Updates

Model: 2007 Cadillac SRX4 AWD Fault Code: P0017 Posted: 2016-06-27 19:39

We have recently replaced all four camshaft position sensors and the crankshaft position sensor. Despite these replacements, the vehicle is now displaying fault codes P0017 and P0523. We are seeking expert advice on possible causes and solutions. P0017 indicates a camshaft position sensor circuit malfunction or timing issue, while P0523 points to an engine oil pressure (EOP) sensor circuit with high voltage readings. Has anyone experienced similar issues with the 2007 Cadillac SRX4 AWD? Are there known fixes or technical service bulletins (TSBs) that address these codes? We have verified all sensors and wiring, but the issue persists. Any guidance on diagnosing engine oil pressure sensor performance or checking voltage readings from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) would be greatly appreciated.

The term 'sensors are the messengers' is misleading — replacing sensors does not resolve underlying issues. For P0017, refer to OBD-Codes.com: https://www.obd-codes.com/p0017. This code often relates to camshaft position timing or sensor signal integrity. For P0523 - Engine Oil Pressure (EOP) Sensor Circuit High Voltage — see: https://www.obd-codes.com/p052-3. This fault may indicate a problem with the engine oil pressure sensor, its wiring, or the PCM reading. Check if any engine oil-related maintenance has been performed recently (e.g., oil change, filter replacement). A known issue in 2007 Cadillac SRX4 AWD models is addressed by TSB #12-06-01-009F and part number PIP3423L. Recommended next steps: Verify the voltage output from the PCM to the EOP sensor, inspect wiring harnesses for damage or corrosion, and ensure proper sensor installation. A visit to a certified Cadillac dealer is advised for accurate diagnosis and potential TSB-based repairs.
