2006 Toyota RAV4 P0328 Code: Knock Sensor Replacement Not Resolving Irregular RPM

Model: 2006 Toyota RAV4 Fault Code: P0328 Posted: 2015-02-15 06:30

I recently encountered a P0328 diagnostic code on my 2006 Toyota RAV4. I replaced the knock sensor, but the P0328 code persists along with irregular engine RPMs. I've confirmed there are no exhaust leaks or noticeable engine noises. I'm using an OBD2 scanner to monitor live data during operation. During a recent inspection, I found that one of the wire connectors on the knock sensor harness appears damaged—specifically, two wires (black and white) show signs of poor connection. I’m unsure about the correct wiring diagram and would like guidance on where these wires should be connected.

Using a scanner to view live data is highly recommended for accurate diagnosis. I’ve confirmed no exhaust leaks and no engine noise. I do use an OBD2 scanner. During my repair, I noticed the wire connectors on the knock sensor harness are damaged—specifically, one black and one white wire. I’m not sure where these wires should be connected; a clear wiring diagram would be very helpful.

I installed a Denso knock sensor, which is an OEM-equivalent part for Toyota vehicles.
