P0455 OBD2 Fault Code in 2006 Ford Taurus: Diagnosis and Next Steps

Model: 2006 Taurus Fault Code: P0455 Posted: 2009-10-26 22:20

I've successfully cleared the P0455 diagnostic trouble code on my 2006 Ford Taurus, and the check engine light has turned off. However, I'm unsure what to do if the light reappears. Where is the fuel vapor canister located in this model? And where are the most common failure points for the evaporative emission system? I've heard that a loose or faulty gas cap can trigger this code, but after tightening it and clearing the code, I'm now looking for more specific guidance on how to diagnose further if the issue returns.

Inspect all hoses and vacuum lines running from the engine toward the fuel tank for cracks, splits, disconnections, or leaks. Refer to the evaporative system diagram in the engine bay for a visual guide.

The check engine light remained off throughout my entire commute this morning — great news! I'm hopeful it's fully resolved. Fingers crossed it stays fixed!

I don't think the issue is truly solved. Clearing the code resets the emission system monitors, and the P0455 fault may reappear after a short period of driving — especially under normal operating conditions.
