P0688 P2112 P126E Fault Diagnosis for 2006 Ram 2500 5.7 Hemi After Engine Replacement

Model: 2006 RAM Fault Code: P0688 Posted: 2020-04-25 11:02

I recently installed a new engine in my 2006 Ram 2500 5.7L Hemi, but now the truck will crank but not start. The onboard diagnostic system is showing codes P0688, P2112, and P126E. Prior to this, the vehicle had been sitting for over a year and was running normally until recently. I've already replaced the battery, ordered a new TIPM (Terminal Interface Power Module) from O'Reilly's, installed new terminals, and tested all connections both when cranking and when parked. Voltage readings show 12.3V when parked and drop to 11.4V during cranking. Despite these efforts, the truck still fails to start. I'm seeking advice on how to properly diagnose and resolve this issue. Any insights or troubleshooting steps would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

This issue was resolved in my case after identifying a completely broken coil pack that caused an electrical short. Before replacing the TIPM, try these diagnostic steps: - Test battery and TIPM terminals for correct voltage - Check the relay located behind the TIPM - Disconnect and reconnect the PCM connectors - Inspect the wiring harness for any shorts or open circuits - VERIFY COIL PACKS FOR DAMAGE OR FAILURE

I have a 2002 Jeep Wrangler 4.0 with similar symptoms: after replacing the crankshaft position sensor, the vehicle will crank and run briefly before stalling and refusing to restart. If I let it sit for several minutes, it will start again and run for a short time before stopping. This issue persists even after multiple attempts. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Bobby
