2006 Monte Carlo SS C0558 / C0899 Codes

Model: 2006 Monte Carlo SS Fault Code: C0558 Posted: 2015-05-03 14:25

Have a 2006 Monte Carlo putting out a C0558 code which is an undetermined code in the scanner I am using. The parking brake, traction control, and ABS lights are on. On the same vehicle a C0899 Device 1 voltage low code is also present. The BCM has been replaced. Any suggestions on what to try or any possible causes to check?

A low voltage issue and module may need to be flashed. I do not think the BCM is a bolt in, needs calibration. C0588 - Calibration Data Not Programmed C0899 - EBCM low voltage.

Kev2, thanks for the tip. My scanner is not a tech-2 so I will need to take the car to someone for the BPP calibration. I have read up on that issue. What would be involved to flash the voltage and module? I know there may be corrosion on the terminals due to fretting and have read how to address that problem as well.

the voltage issue will not need a scanner. what is the overall condition of charging system- has battery died, have you checked output? There could be a wiring problem - that could be a ign switch or remote starter NOT powering all modules. I cannot pull up a monte carlo diagram.

Charging system is on the low side, 12.5 - 13 volts @2000rpm. Battery replaced last summer and holding a charge well. Grounds to the BCM have been checked. I have not however checked the voltage at the BCM.
