2006 Hummer H3 Throttle Actuator Fault Codes P2101, P1516, P2176 - Diagnosis and Fixes
Has anyone experienced fault codes P2101, P1516, and P2176 on a 2006 Hummer H3? I've already replaced the throttle body, harness wiring, pedal sensor, and both oxygen (O2) sensors. Despite these repairs, the issue persists. What could be causing these codes? Any known technical bulletins or common troubleshooting steps for this combination of codes in a stock 2006 Hummer H3?
A scan tool is essential to view live data — all three codes describe the same underlying issue: the difference between commanded and actual throttle position exceeds a calibrated threshold. I'd recommend checking for relevant service bulletins, especially regarding temperature conditions (not extremely cold, e.g., -10°F?). Confirm that the charging system is functioning properly. Is the vehicle stock with no aftermarket devices connected to the DLC? The P2176 code appears to be a good starting point. Did you perform throttle body relearn? A simple 1-2-3 reset process is available online and should be tried first. I suspect a wiring fault between the throttle body and PCM — using a scanner to monitor live sensor data can help identify discrepancies. Check the freeze frame data for context. Why were the O2 sensors replaced? Are there any other diagnostic trouble codes present?
