2006 Ford F150 5.4L Engine Rough Idle with P0016, P0174, and P0303 Codes After Spark Plug Replacement
I recently had to remove the cylinder head on Bank 1 to extract a broken spark plug. After reassembling the engine, my 2006 Ford F150 5.4L is now running with a very rough idle. I've already replaced the spark plug and coil pack for Cylinder 3, as well as the CMP sensor, but the issue persists. The idle becomes noticeably worse when the truck is stopped in drive—running smoothly only above 1000 RPM. Could a faulty fuel injector be the cause? Additionally, during the intake removal process, I manually turned the CMCV (Controlled Motorized Cam Valve) on the back of the intake manifold. Is this adjustment potentially affecting engine performance or idle stability?
FYI, Lisle offers a specialized tool designed for removing broken Ford F-150 spark plugs—this tool allows you to extract the plug without removing the cylinder head: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00267PZUK/.
