2006 Ford F150 5.4L Engine Rough Idle with P0016, P0174, and P0303 Codes After Spark Plug Replacement

I recently had to remove the cylinder head on Bank 1 to extract a broken spark plug. After reassembling the engine, my 2006 Ford F150 5.4L is now running with a very rough idle. I've already replaced the spark plug and coil pack for Cylinder 3, as well as the CMP sensor, but the issue persists. The idle becomes noticeably worse when the truck is stopped in drive—running smoothly only above 1000 RPM. Could a faulty fuel injector be the cause? Additionally, during the intake removal process, I manually turned the CMCV (Controlled Motorized Cam Valve) on the back of the intake manifold. Is this adjustment potentially affecting engine performance or idle stability?

I've used Lisle's spark plug removal tool for all seven broken plugs in my 2007 F-150. It worked well—except on Cylinder #4, where it pushed the plug deeper into the head instead of gripping it properly. We tried removing the plug without taking off the head for a full week before resorting to head removal. I even contacted Lisle directly to ask if there was an alternative method. Honestly, removing the cylinder head was the last thing I wanted to do!

I experienced the same issue on my 2007 Ford F-150 5.4L after replacing spark plugs—the truck began stalling when slowing down or coming to a stop. RPMs dropped sharply, causing shaking before full stall. The OBD2 scanner showed a faulty Fuel Tank Pressure (FTP) sensor. If your truck stumbles or shakes, try quickly shifting into neutral—the behavior might change. Also, please post all diagnostic codes you're seeing. Ensure your OBD2 scanner can read all codes, including manufacturer-specific ones such as P0999 and above, which are often related to transmission or engine control systems.
