2006 Ford F-150 P0012 Fault: Engine Misses and Dies After Warm-Up

Model: 2006 Ford F-150 Fault Code: P0012 Posted: 2016-08-20 18:39

I own a 2006 Ford F-150 with a 5.4L V8 engine. I've already replaced the cam phasers, timing chain, oil pump, and coil packs. The truck runs fine when cold but begins to act like a diesel, missing significantly and eventually stalling as it warms up. A diagnostic scan revealed fault code P0012. Despite these repairs, the issue persists. I'm seeking advice on what else might be causing this problem or how to properly address the P0012 code.

Have you checked or replaced the VCT solenoids? They are a common cause of P0012 codes, especially due to sludge and gum buildup in the valve train over time.
