P2195 Stuck Lean Bank 1 Sensor 1 and Stuck Rich Bank 2 Sensor 1 on 2006 Ford Expedition - Diagnosis and Fixes

Model: 2006 Ford Expedition Fault Code: P2195 Posted: 2016-04-23 11:24

My 2006 Ford Expedition is not starting properly. After attempting to crank the engine for 30+ attempts, I noticed both CVT solenoids were faulty—this has happened before, as I replaced them nine months ago. Now that it starts, the engine runs unevenly and fails to fire on all cylinders. I performed a diagnostic test by removing spark plugs from Bank 1 (pass side). The engine does not exhibit any noticeable misfire or performance drop when the plug is removed. However, when I remove a spark plug from Bank 2 (driver's side), the engine runs significantly worse. The issue appears to be related to the P2195 fault code indicating a stuck lean condition on Bank 1 Sensor 1 and a stuck rich condition on Bank 2 Sensor 1. I'm seeking advice on how to diagnose and resolve this problem without further damage to the engine or drivetrain.

Assuming the truck is stock with no aftermarket modifications—let's get it running first before tackling repeated VCT issues. Are there any other diagnostic trouble codes present? You mentioned that removing fuel injectors from Bank 1 doesn't worsen misfires. Ideally, verify injector performance using a Noid light: check for proper flashing and steady signals—not just presence of voltage. Alternatively, try performing a KOEO (Key On, Engine Off) test—unplug the fuel injector on Bank 1 and confirm if there's 12V on the red wire. Also, ensure the signal wire (non-red wire) is grounded and showing proper voltage. Additionally, check fuel pressure under KOEO conditions and monitor for any drop in pressure during idle or engine off states.
