P0202 and P2196 Codes on 2006 Ford E250: Diagnosis and Repair Guide

Model: 2006 Ford E250 Fault Code: P0202 Posted: 2018-07-19 12:41

My 2006 Ford E250 van has started experiencing poor acceleration and now shows two diagnostic trouble codes: P0202 and P2196. The first code, P0202, indicates an open circuit in the fuel injector for Cylinder 1. The second code, P2196, means the oxygen sensor signal on Bank 1, Sensor 1 is biased or stuck rich. I'm looking for guidance on how to diagnose and fix these issues step by step. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Walter.

The engine in this vehicle is a 5.4L V8.

Start with addressing the P0202 code, as it typically originates from one of several possible causes: a faulty fuel injector, an open circuit in the wiring to the injector, or a short in the wiring. While a bad injector is the most common cause, it's important not to rule out other possibilities such as wiring faults or issues with the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). For more details, refer to official sources on P0202 troubleshooting.

Thank you very much. I will begin by inspecting and replacing the fuel injector for Cylinder 1 as recommended.
