2006 F150 5.4L 3L3E P0020, P0022 along with missfire
Ok so I am about done with this damn truck.......Rebuilt motor bored 075, brand new heads, cams, phasers, cam sensor, crank sensor, and vct's...fired up no problem with a rough idle and a missfire on #3 cylinder.. Replaced the over looked broken coil on #3 and smoothed out like a new motor should run. During the break in drive, it seemed like it was lacking power and like it wanted to die when stopping, and if you gave it gas it would straighten right up and go back to running smooth again (still like it was lacking a little power). Check engine light came on and was giving me p0020, p0022, I checked the wire from the vct to the pcm and it checked out fine. Then later after maybe 40 miles or so it started running really rough and said missfire on #5 (P0305), missfire occured durring first 1000 rev. (P0316) and random missfire detected (P0300). I changed the coil on #5 and it made no difference. So my question is, whats the possibility of a new phaser going bad or the timing jumping a tooth on bank 2? And would it throw those codes if so?
Did you ever find out what the problem was? I am having same issues with my new son in laws truck. Please let me know what you found out to fix this issue. Thanks.
