I own a 2006 Chevrolet Colorado with a 5-cylinder engine. I've already replaced the oxygen sensor, cleaned the MAF sensor, replaced the PCV vacuum hoses, and installed new spark plugs. Despite these efforts, the P0171 code persists and is preventing me from passing smog inspections. This issue has become extremely frustrating. Can anyone provide guidance on what steps to take next? I'd greatly appreciate any advice or troubleshooting tips related to this specific fault code in my vehicle.

I had my 2006 Chevrolet Colorado scanned at a local auto parts store for free and received the same P0171 code. I've completed all the steps mentioned above, including replacing the oxygen sensor—yet it hasn't cleared. Since I’ve already replaced the O2 sensor on mine, I’ll monitor whether changing it resolves the issue in my case as well.

I finally got rid of the P0171 code. My mechanic simply cleaned the fuel filter, and since then the check engine light has not returned. This may be a helpful solution for others facing similar issues with their 2006 Colorado.
