2006 Buick Rendezvous P0716 Code: Intermittent Diagnosis and Solutions
I'm experiencing a recurring P0716 diagnostic code on my 2006 Buick Rendezvous. The code appears intermittently—sometimes days later, other times weeks or months after clearing it—which suggests it's not a permanent failure but rather a condition that reoccurs under specific circumstances. I've already inspected and cleaned the 50-pin connector using contact cleaner, ensuring all wires are securely seated. Despite this, the issue persists. Freeze frame data consistently shows the vehicle operating below 2000 RPM and under 25 mph when the code is triggered. This behavior has led me to suspect a potential sensor or wiring issue related to transmission input. Given these symptoms, I'm seeking insight into possible root causes—particularly whether it could be linked to the vehicle speed sensor (VSS) or other components in the transmission control system.
