I recently inspected my 2005 Kia Sportage with new components and discovered a recurring P0123 diagnostic trouble code. The vehicle exhibits surging and stalling at specific RPMs and under load. After replacing the throttle position sensor (TPS) twice, I found a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) specifically addressing the 2.7L Delta V6 engine with stock TPS units. Kia has released an improved TPS model designed to resolve this issue. However, aftermarket sensors from Auto Zone and Advance Auto Parts are based on the original OEM design and do not meet the updated specifications.
