2005 Hyundai Elantra P0501 Fault: Possible Wrong Axle Replacement or Sensor Issue?

Model: 2005 Hyundai Elantra Fault Code: P0501 Posted: 2014-01-27 20:19

This vehicle is equipped with a manual transmission and does not have ABS. I recently replaced the right front axle several months ago, but I don't drive it regularly, so I'm unsure if the Check Engine Light (CEL) has been on continuously since then. The car has a wheel speed sensor located on the right front hub, but the axle underneath appears smooth—there is no visible gear structure typical of an ABS system. Given this, I am concerned whether I may have installed the wrong axle or if there's another underlying issue related to the P0501 fault code. The P0501 code indicates a problem with the vehicle speed sensor (VSS), which could be triggered by incorrect or missing components in the drivetrain assembly.
