2005 Ford Freestar 3.9L Error Code P0113: Missing IAT Sensor Location and Diagnosis

Model: 2005 ford freestar 3.9 Fault Code: P0113 Posted: 2016-05-26 11:28

We're completely stuck trying to diagnose error code P0113 on our 2005 Ford Freestar with a 3.9L engine. The code indicates an issue with the intake air temperature (IAT) sensor, but we cannot locate either a dedicated IAT sensor or an ambient temperature intake sensor in the vehicle. We've already removed the bumper cover and inspected the mass airflow (MAF) sensor area thoroughly, yet no visible IAT sensor is present. We contacted the Ford dealership, who confirmed that a standalone IAT sensor does not appear to be part of the 2005 Ford Freestar's design. However, they did mention that some MAF sensors may integrate an internal temperature sensor that functions as the IAT sensor. We're now wondering if our issue stems from a faulty or misread integrated sensor within the MAF housing. Any insights or confirmed information on whether the 2005 Ford Freestar uses an integrated IAT in the MAF sensor would be greatly appreciated.

Check the mass air flow (MAF) sensor — it may have an integrated intake air temperature (IAT) sensor built into its housing. In many Ford models, including the 2005 Freestar, this internal sensor serves as the IAT sensor and is not a separate component.
