2005 Ford Explorer XLT 4.0L SOHC (VIN K) P0755 and P1000 OBD Code Fix - Transmission Solenoid B Malfunction
I recently failed my Arizona emissions test due to a check engine light, which was unexpected since I had been driving the vehicle without major issues. The fault code displayed was P0755 — indicating a solenoid 'B' malfunction in the transmission. After consulting several local transmission shops, they all recommended replacing the 'B' solenoid within the solenoid pack. I reached out to an old friend who specialized in Ford Explorer components and received a remanufactured solenoid pack featuring their new blue circuit board. Following installation, I noticed a significant improvement in gear shifting — the transitions became smooth and consistent compared to the previously rough shifts I had experienced over the years. Interestingly, I hadn't even realized how rough the shifts were until after the upgrade. After clearing the P0755 code, I attempted a drive cycle to reset the system, but shortly afterward, the same P0755 code returned — 'Solenoid B Malfunction' — and a new code appeared: P1000 — OBD Incomplete. I'm now unsure what triggered the return of these codes. The truck performs excellently otherwise in daily driving. As a workaround, I plan to get emissions tested in a region that doesn't require an on-site emissions check, since Arizona only mandates such checks in metropolitan areas. Does anyone have experience with P0755 or P1000 codes on 2005 Ford Explorer XLT 4.0L SOHC (VIN K) models? Any insights into potential causes or solutions would be greatly appreciated.
