2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser P0302 Fault: What to Do After Replacing Spark Plugs and Wires

Model: 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser Fault Code: P0302 Posted: 2014-02-24 17:25

I've already replaced the spark plugs and ignition wires on my 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser, but the check engine light is still on with fault code P0302. I'm not very experienced with mechanical repairs, so I'm looking for clear, step-by-step guidance on what to do next. Any advice or troubleshooting tips would be greatly appreciated.

After replacing the spark plugs and wires, check if there's a spark at cylinder #2 using a spark tester. Use a noid light to verify that the fuel injector is pulsing — this is a quick diagnostic step. Also, examine the condition of the old #2 plug: was it wet, dry, tan, or black? A fuel pressure gauge should be used to check system pressure and then bleed down under KOEO (Key Off, Engine Off) conditions. Note: special spark plugs are required for this model — confirm you used the original OEM type.
