2005 Chevy Suburban 5.3L Flex-Fuel Engine - P0118 Code and Gauge Malfunctions
I recently installed a new engine in my 2005 Chevrolet Suburban with a 5.3L flex-fuel setup, but the vehicle is consistently displaying Diagnostic Trouble Code P0118. Additionally, the temperature gauge remains stuck at the bottom (zero), while both the oil pressure and fuel gauges jump to full (80% and 100%) as soon as the key is turned on. I'm concerned about potential sensor or wiring issues. Any insights into possible causes or troubleshooting steps for this combination of symptoms?
Hello. For reference, see the official OBD-II code explanation at: https://www.obd-codes.com/p0118 To diagnose further, check the live reading on the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor. At cold engine temperature, the sensor should read approximately 3000 ohms. A deviation from this value may indicate a faulty sensor or wiring issue.
