Model: 2005 Chev Silverado Fault Code: P0161 Posted: 2012-05-31 21:51

I own a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 2WD and am currently dealing with fault code P0161, which indicates a problem with the oxygen sensor in bank 2, sensor 2. I'm looking for clear guidance on how to locate this sensor and properly repair it. Any advice or step-by-step instructions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, dmcg

The oxygen sensor is located on the passenger side, downstream of the catalytic converter. To replace it: disconnect the electrical connector, unscrew the old sensor, and install a new one. It's recommended to purchase the replacement from an authorized dealer rather than aftermarket brands unless you're comfortable with third-party parts.

Ok located the sensors but before I by a sensor is there a fuse for the sensors ? I know the wiring could have a short but inspected and could not find any, and heard there might be a fuse?

If the issue were due to a blown fuse, it would affect all oxygen sensors simultaneously, not just one. Therefore, a single sensor failure is unlikely to be caused by a faulty fuse.
