Hello. I have a 2005 Cadillac STS 4.6 It doesn't start and has code P0391 B circuit bank 2 cam sensor. So I replaced sensor. Code is gone and shows no codes on my OBD2 But still not starting! After car sits for 6 hours or more it will start for about 3 seconds and then shuts off. If I crank it again it won't start at all till it sits again. Any help would be appreciated Thanks
Car will still start with that code. Have to test as no start. Spark fuel air compression. Can't guess. Answer questions above please.
Hello and thanks for reply. No my code checker doest have rpm on it. I've tried starting fluid and nothing. Only time it starts for 3 seconds is after it sits over night. I keep battery charged to 13 volts before trying to start car. The car ran fine when I drove it to restaurant. Then as I came out and went to leave it started fine but when I put it in gear it didn't want to go anywhere.I reved it up and it stalled after making some noise out the mufflers kind of a popping sounds.. I has never started since. I let it sit for about 9 months and when I decided to fix it battery was dead ofcourse. I put new battery in it and checked fuel pressure at rail and it is at 50 psi then drops to about 45 when cranking When I put car in run mode I hear fuel pump run for about 6 seconds and stops. It's very irritating
I would check for spark. How does it sound when cranking? Sound regular like normal compression no irregular sounds called cadence don't know if spelled right. Check for spark and if good check compression. Has to be missing spark or compression. If no spark probably don't have injection pulses. Check several cylinders for spark.
It started for 6 seconds today but engine sounded noisy! It died after 6 seconds. It through some codes PO 2100 PO 0606 PO 2119 PO 2176 all seem to point to throttle body and or ECM. What worries me is the noisy engine.Rattling
Codes just give general direction where to start testing. Parts changers sometimes get it right but lots of times it is connector or wiring or computer or even something else that is flagging a particular code. Noise is never a good thing. Should not be noise with electronic throttle control all electronic. Have to isolate noise. Oil level good? Try to isolate noise where it's coming from bottom end of engine? Exhaust heat shield? Hard to say. Etc codes usually home limp mode nothing above 25 mph or pcm will cut off injector pulses. You even have p0606 internal pcm problem usually not a good thing. Sometimes false codes can trigger from engine not running right. Clear codes see if same return try to pinpoint noise if internal engine or exhaust rattle vibration. Wish I could be more help.
Have to rule out internal engine damage. Find out general area where noise is coming from. May not be worth fixing if engine is shot.
Thanks for Info. Noise sounds like top end. Possibly valves. After it started for 6 sec last time it got noisier now rattles when turning over I was suspecting valve timing is off..maybe chain jump a link. I did find another engine with 85k on it same as mine from totalled car. 8th digit A just like mine.. problem is it's in outskirts of Detroit lol Discover more truck Fuel Spark plug I'm in CA. They only want 600.00 for complete engine. It looks very clean and comes with 6 month warranty Wish it was closer to me. I'd post pic but don't think this site supports it
Inputs to the pcm can cause engine to run bad vibrate ect. The etc codes would explain putting in gear and stalling. The p0606 pcm internal error code may be a problem with pcm. I have seen faulty pcm with etc codes. Testing would have to be done. If jumped time should get cam crank correlation codes. I would have towed to ase certified shop pay for an hour of diagnostic time to find problem. Could just be a faulty pcm. Could get a programmed pcm online but money would be wasted if there was a short in wiring that damaged pcm. I have seen faulty pcm same codes. Or could pay for a hour diagnostic time or take a chance on a pcm. Just some thoughts.
Garage can scope cam and crank sensors and do a cam crank correlation test compare to a known good.

Is your check engine light on koeo? Check for 5 volt ref to different sensors including dual tps at electronic throttle body. Check pcm powers and grounds to the pcm board.
Hello. I just tried to start car and I had throttle body harness off to check power on gry wire. With key on and it did have supply volts 4 vs So I just tried to start car and it started but sounded like a coffee can with nutts in it being shaken.. pretty loud! Seemed as it was coming from top of engine Timing chain or valves? It threw another code PO106 absolute manifold I also noticed on the dash info screen it said e fine power decreased! I'm thinking engine isn't worth fixing Wich sucks! It has 115k Wich isn't much. I did find another engine in Detroit same Vin code 8th digit A it's only 85k miles and they want 600 but said they would now take 500.00 Only thing is transport..To California..

No engine locally with 8 digit A code. I have no choice but wanted to get second opinion about engine! I'm sure it would cost lost to rebuild. I think I can buy this one and have it delivered for around 900.00 I'm sure this is best option Thanks
That code should not prevent car from starting. How did problem start? Does your scan tool show rpm data pid? Do you see on scan tool rpm signal during cranking? Do you hear fuel pump run for 2 seconds when key is turned to on position? Remove gas cap to hear better? Try spraying some carb spray into intake see if it starts runs stalls.
