2004 Kia Sorento 3.5L Engine P0102 Fault: Mass Airflow Sensor Issue with Acceleration Hesitation
Hi everyone, I'm looking for help diagnosing a recurring issue on my 2004 Kia Sorento with a 3.5L V6 engine. The vehicle shows a P0102 fault code (Low Mass Airflow Sensor Signal), and while it generally runs smoothly, it occasionally hesitates when the accelerator is pressed. I've already checked the wiring continuity between the ECU/PCM and the MAF sensor — all connections are intact. I'm also getting full battery voltage at the sensor end, which suggests the signal isn't being lost in the wiring. This has been the second MAF sensor replaced on this vehicle, and while it's not under my direct diagnosis, I can't believe two faulty sensors would fail consecutively. The OBD2 scanner shows no airflow data regardless of throttle position — this is very puzzling. Any insights or troubleshooting steps for a P0102 code with inconsistent acceleration response? Any suggestions on how to verify sensor readings directly? Thanks in advance, Jon B
At idle, try back-probing pins 1 through 5 of the MAF sensor and share the voltage readings. This will help confirm whether the sensor is providing a proper signal or if there's an issue with its output despite normal battery voltage.
