2004 Jeep Wrangler P0432 Code: Causes and Diagnosis Despite Passing Emissions Test

Model: 2004 Jeep Wrangler Fault Code: P0432 Posted: 2017-06-20 13:30

My 2004 Jeep Wrangler has recently passed emissions testing, but the P0432 diagnostic code continues to appear intermittently. After driving approximately 100 miles and resetting the system, the code reappears. NOx, CO, and HC readings during the test are all well within legal limits. I'm concerned—why is this code triggering if the catalytic converter appears to be functioning properly? Is there a specific condition or vehicle factor that could cause this issue despite passing emissions checks?

Confirmed: P0432 code present — not typically on quick-check lists. Also, is this a 4.0L engine model? This affects potential root causes.

Yes, it's equipped with a 4.0L engine.

this is intermittent ? Any conditions common to code setting ie idle or hi way, hot cold? Any recent work? Any Repairs or modifications? Exhaust leak, or damage to cat- bottomed out bent? No other codes or issues? I am hoping for something to look at before looking at live data. Next if nothing above we will need to check o2 sensor output voltages with a scanner .
