P0720 Fault Code on 2004 Ford F250 4x4 V10 with 4R100 Transmission - Intermittent Engine Misfire and Stalling

Model: 2004 F250 4x4 V10 4R100 Fault Code: P0720 Posted: 2015-04-04 09:21

I own a 2004 Ford F250 4x4 equipped with a V10 engine and a 4-speed automatic transmission (4R100). I'm currently experiencing an intermittent P0720 diagnostic trouble code, which indicates a fault in the output shaft speed sensor circuit. When this code is detected, the engine begins to misfire and eventually stalls—whether the truck is idling at a stop or when shifting into gear. The check engine light and transmission warning light both illuminate, with the shifter light flashing intermittently. I have already replaced the output shaft speed sensor, but the P0720 code persists. Notably, the speedometer has not malfunctioned, which suggests the issue may lie elsewhere in the transmission or related electrical system. Any insights or troubleshooting steps for this persistent P0720 error on a 2004 F250 with a 4R100 transmission would be greatly appreciated.

I'm experiencing the same issue on my 2004 Ford F250 4x4 V10 with a 4R100 transmission. I've checked the output shaft sensor and it's fine, but the P0720 code keeps coming back. Have you found any other potential causes or solutions? Any updates on your progress would be helpful.
