2004 Ford F15-0 P0430 Code: O2 Sensor Replacement Not Resolving Issue

Model: 2004 F150 Fault Code: P0430 Posted: 2011-04-23 09:20

I own a 2004 Ford F150 XLT 4x4 with a 5.4L V8 engine, currently at 248,000 miles and still running well. Recently, I began receiving the P0430 diagnostic trouble code. I replaced all four original OEM oxygen sensors with Bosch 15664 units. After resetting the system, the truck runs smoothly for about 2.5 days before the check engine light returns. There are no visible signs of failing catalytic converters. I'm wondering what else could be causing this P0430 code—could it be a faulty sensor, an exhaust leak, or something else? Any insights or troubleshooting steps would be greatly appreciated.

The catalytic converter on Bank 2 is likely failed. The cost of the Bosch oxygen sensors may have been wasted—investing in a high-quality replacement catalytic converter would address the root cause of the P0430 code.
