2004 Dodge Ram Diesel P0193 - Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit High Input Diagnosis

Model: 2004 dodge ram diesel Fault Code: P0193 Posted: 2008-06-03 10:32

My 2004 Dodge Ram Diesel has been running smoothly, but occasionally when I start the engine, it makes a clacking noise and then stalls. A diagnostic test at Advanced Auto revealed fault code P0193: 'Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit High Input'. Is this simply a matter of replacing the sensor, or could there be another underlying issue given that the problem occurs intermittently?

Inspect the connector at the fuel pressure sensor. Clean it if necessary. If the connectors are secure and in good condition, the sensor itself is likely faulty. Always follow the proper procedure to release fuel pressure—this system operates at up to 20,000 psi. Failure to do so can result in serious injury or death.

Twenty thousand psi? You mean two thousand? That seems like a significant discrepancy—double-checking the pressure specification is critical for safety and accuracy when working on this system.
