2004 Dodge Durango OBD Code P0344: Camshaft Position Sensor A Circuit Intermittent on Bank 1 - Location and Diagnosis

Model: 2004 Dodge Durango Fault Code: P0344 Posted: 2018-02-06 01:22

Hi everyone, I own a 2004 Dodge Durango with a 4.7L engine, and I recently received the OBD II diagnostic code P0344: 'Camshaft Position Sensor A Circuit Intermittent on Bank 1'. The error message is very clear — it's indicating an intermittent issue with the camshaft position sensor on Bank 1. I'm a bit confused because, as far as I know, my truck only has one camshaft position sensor (CPS), and I've been told that Bank 1 refers to the driver's side. However, I can't locate this sensor on the driver's side of the engine. I previously replaced both the camshaft and crankshaft position sensors on the passenger side (Bank 2) during a summer repair, but I don’t see any visible sensor on the driver’s side. Could anyone confirm where exactly the Camshaft Position Sensor A is located on the driver's side in a 2004 Dodge Durango? If possible, could someone share a photo or detailed diagram of this component? Thanks for your help! Mike

The 2004 Dodge Durango has only one camshaft position sensor (CPS), located on the driver's side (Bank 1). The issue could be with the sensor itself, its wiring harness, or the electrical connector. To diagnose this properly, it’s recommended to use an OBD-II scan tool and a digital multimeter to check for voltage and continuity. This will help determine whether the problem is in the sensor, wiring, or signal integrity.
