2004 chev impala p0300 code
When the engine is warm it starts to run rough and I get a burning smell. It will stall when the accelerator is released. I took off the exhaust and ran the car fine for about 45 minutes before I got a check engine light or any codes. I don’t get the burning smell anymore. How can I check the catalytic converter? About a year ago I had the fuel system cleaned, fuel pressure regulator changed, new plugs and wires, and the intake manifold gasket replaced. The car has 118,000 miles on it.
You can screw an adaptor into the 02 sensor hole and check for positive pressure in the exhaust or use a vaccum gauge hooked up to a vaccum source. If you get more then 1 pound of positive pressure then it may be restrictted!
