2004 Audi A4 B6 1.9TDI AVF Engine P0726 Fault - No Start, Cranks But Doesn't Pickup
Hi there, I own a 2004 Audi A4 B6 1.9TDI with an AVF engine. After completely reconditioning the engine — including new bearings and all major components — my car now cranks but fails to start properly. When I connect an OBDII scanner, it shows error code P0726. I've read previous discussions about this code, but my vehicle is not equipped with an automatic transmission. I have already replaced both the crankshaft and camshaft (speed) position sensors simultaneously, yet the P0726 code persists. Could there be another sensor measuring engine or vehicle speed that's causing this issue? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
The P0726 code typically indicates a mismatch in vehicle, engine, or transmission speed sensing. While you've replaced the crankshaft and camshaft sensors, it's possible another sensor — such as the wheel speed sensor or input shaft speed sensor — is contributing to this fault. The exact location of these sensors may vary by model year; however, for 2004 Audi A4 B6 models, the wheel speed sensors are usually located near each wheel hub and connected to the ABS system. Double-checking all relevant sensors and their wiring integrity could help resolve the issue.
