2003 Toyota Camry 4.2L Engine Shake & OBD2 Codes P0014, P0105, P0300 - Diagnosis and Fixes

Model: 2003 TB Fault Code: P0014 Posted: 2012-03-22 11:31

Hi, I have a 2003 Toyota Camry with a 4.2L engine. Today, my check engine light started flashing, followed by a slight engine shake. The shaking would temporarily stop, but the check engine light would then turn solid. After arriving home, I connected an OBD2 scanner and retrieved three fault codes: P0014 (Camshaft Position Sensor A Circuit Range/Performance), P0105 (Manifold Absolute Pressure/Barometric Pressure Circuit Malfunction), and P0300 (Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire). I'm looking for reliable explanations of what might be causing these issues and any practical steps I can take to fix them. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

After reviewing several forums, I found similar cases where users experienced the same codes. We began by testing the spark plugs and ignition coils and discovered that cylinder #2 was not firing—this was confirmed with a coil tester. Replacing the faulty coil resolved the misfire issue. For the P0105 code (Manifold Absolute Pressure/Barometric Pressure Circuit Malfunction), we cleaned a clogged throttle body using a specialized cleaner and a toothbrush. After reassembling, we cleared the codes and performed a test drive. The vehicle now runs smoothly with no shaking or check engine light issues. We noticed a noticeable improvement in overall power and responsiveness after the cleaning.
