2003 Nissan Sentra O2 Sensor P0037 Fault: Engine Shuts Off After Driving

Model: 2003 Nissan Sentra Fault Code: P0037 Posted: 2017-07-15 10:04

I recently replaced the crankshaft position sensor, and after the repair the engine light turned off. However, after driving for only a few minutes, the vehicle suddenly shuts down and the engine light returns on. The diagnostic tool now reads DTC P0037. What could be causing this issue? I'm a beginner DIYer and have only done this repair once—any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Refer to the forum's trouble code section for detailed causes and solutions related to P0037. A possible cause is a faulty heater element in the oxygen sensor located after the catalytic converter. The engine shutdown during operation may not be directly linked to P0037, but could instead point to an issue with the crankshaft position sensor or its associated circuit. Did you check for any crankshaft position sensor error codes? Remember that trouble codes provide diagnostic direction rather than exact part replacements—this is especially important for first-time DIYers.
