2003 Mazda Tribute P0507 Code: Idle Air Control Valve Issues and High RPM When Clutch Engaged
I own a 2003 Mazda Tribute with a 2.0L engine that recently triggered a P0507 diagnostic code. Initially, the vehicle exhibited only a rough idle. After the code appeared, I researched potential causes and found references to the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve as a common culprit. I first attempted cleaning both the throttle body and the IAC valve, but these efforts did not resolve the issue. No vacuum leaks were detected during inspection. I then replaced the IAC valve, only for the engine to start running poorly—specifically, when pressing in the clutch, the RPMs would unexpectedly rise between 3,000 and 5,000 RPM, creating a sensation similar to acceleration. Suspecting a faulty IAC valve, I returned the replacement unit. The problem persists as of today with identical symptoms.
I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the correct section for a reply—could someone confirm where troubleshooting P0507 should be discussed?
