2003 Kia Rio Cinco P0340 Camshaft Position Sensor Issue - Check Engine Light Still On After Replacement
My 2003 Kia Rio Cinco won't pass smog due to a persistent check engine light. I previously had the oxygen sensors and catalytic converter replaced, and the diagnostic scan revealed code P0340 — indicating a faulty camshaft position sensor. I replaced the sensor, but the check engine light remains on. I completed a drive cycle over 100 miles, yet the issue persists. I'm unsure what else to try and need urgent advice on how to resolve this problem.
Check the wiring circuit connected to the camshaft sensor — it may have been damaged during the oxygen sensor or catalytic converter installation. Also, verify whether the replacement sensor was from a dealer or aftermarket source, as performance and compatibility can differ.
