P1765 and P0753 Error Codes: Diagnosis and Fix for 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4.0L 4WD

Model: 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4.0L 4WD Fault Code: P0753 Posted: 2016-04-13 18:40

I'm experiencing error codes P1765 and P0759 on my 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo with a 4.0L V6 engine and 4WD system. After reviewing common causes, the most frequently reported issues are the transmission relay and the overdrive/TCC solenoid. I have already replaced both components — the relay installation was straightforward, but the solenoid replacement proved more difficult. Despite these replacements, the symptoms persist. Symptoms include: - Severe sluggishness when starting from a stop - The vehicle appears to start in 2nd gear rather than first - Check Engine Light remains illuminated - Error codes do not clear after disconnecting the positive battery terminal for 12 hours - Manual shifting into 1st gear works properly, but shifting manually to 2nd gear shows no change in RPM or any shift indication - Transmission fluid is at proper level and may be slightly overfilled - When idling or with the key in ACC position, symptoms occasionally worsen — sometimes the engine feels like it's starting in 3rd or 4th gear before stalling I'm concerned whether my installation of the new solenoid was incorrect. Could there be a wiring issue or improper connection that I missed during reassembly? Any guidance on how to verify proper operation after replacement would be greatly appreciated.

These errors are primarily related to wiring issues. P0753 - Transmission 3-4 Shift Solenoid / Transmission Relay Circuits P1765 - Transmission 12-Volt Supply Relay Control Circuit I recommend starting with P1765, as it indicates a power supply issue to the transmission control system. Is your vehicle stock? Have you installed any aftermarket remote starters or electronic modules? Are there any other symptoms such as emissions failure or charging problems? These could contribute to or mask underlying electrical faults.
