I own a 2003 Hyundai Tiburon GT that I purchased about a year ago. Shortly after buying it, the check engine light activated with a P0102 trouble code. Since then, I've performed numerous diagnostics and repairs including replacing the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor, testing MAF voltage, checking for vacuum leaks, cleaning the throttle body and intake system, replacing all relevant gaskets, and running Sea Foam as a treatment. Despite these efforts, the issue persists. The only noticeable symptoms are: the vehicle is extremely difficult to start on cold mornings and tends to stall at stoplights. When idling, it runs at approximately 3000 RPM until I press the throttle—after which the idle drops slowly and erratically during manual gear shifts. In sixth gear, under light throttle conditions after extended driving, the engine buckles and seems to miss, reaching around 250 or more RPM fluctuations. I have already spent approximately $2,500 on repairs—including a clutch replacement due to related drivability issues—and I am now at a loss. I've ruled out timing problems: the timing is correct, with proper tensioner function and pulley alignment. I've also verified that all common solutions listed on OBD2 diagnostic sites have been tried. I'm currently avoiding a full ECU replacement as it would be costly, but any reliable insight into what might be causing this P0102 code—especially given the erratic idle and drivability issues—is greatly appreciated.
