P0305 Diagnostic - Cylinder #5 Misfire in 2003 Ford Mustang GT

Model: 2003 GT Mustang Fault Code: P0305 Posted: 2007-12-17 14:53

I own a 2003 Ford Mustang GT with a 5-speed manual transmission. When I tried to start the engine, it was difficult to turn over, and upon starting, I noticed a strong gasoline odor. The engine ran roughly, felt shaky, and the check engine light illuminated. After using my Predator OBD-II programmer for diagnostics, I received trouble code P0305 — Cylinder #5 Misfire. My fuel level is nearly empty, but I suspect this isn't directly related to the misfire. I'm looking for reliable solutions or common causes that might resolve this issue. Any insights from owners of similar vehicles? Thanks.

Common potential causes include spark plugs, spark plug wires, coil pack, fuel injectors, or engine internal issues — check each component one by one.

Have you reviewed the official OBD-II code explanation for P030

Yes, I read that article right after posting. I tried adding a small amount of fuel and drove the car briefly to clear the code — it has since cleared and the vehicle runs smoothly now. Thanks for the tip!
