Hi everyone, I own a 2003 Ford Grand Marquis, and my check engine light has come on. Using an OBD-II scanner, I've identified fault code P0102 — Mass Airflow (MAF) Sensor Circuit Range/Performance. I recently replaced the MAF sensor with a brand-new one, cleared the code, and drove approximately 10 miles. The check engine light has come back on, and the same P0102 code is now present. I'm wondering if there could be another underlying cause — perhaps related to wiring, ground connections, or vacuum leaks downstream of the MAF sensor? I've already reviewed common troubleshooting resources but haven't found any obvious issues. Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Do not replace a component solely based on a fault code — no code explicitly states that a part needs to be replaced. That's why I decided to replace the MAF sensor — assuming it was faulty. However, after replacement and driving 10 miles, the P0102 code returned. What is the voltage reading displayed by your scanner at the MAF sensor? Have you checked the wiring and electrical connections (including ground) at the MAF sensor? Have you tested for vacuum leaks, especially those occurring after the MAF sensor installation?

Never assume a part failure just because of an error code. The P0102 code can be triggered by multiple factors — wiring issues, ground faults, or vacuum leaks — not just a faulty MAF sensor.
