2003 Ford Explorer Transmission Error Codes P0713, P0731, P0733, P0750, P0753, P0755, P0758, P0760, P0763 - What Causes These Codes and How to Fix?
My 2003 Ford Explorer suddenly shut off during a traffic light stop. After restarting, the vehicle exhibits heavy gear engagement when shifting into Drive (D), and even with increased throttle, it doesn't respond properly. The Overdrive (O/D) indicator is now flashing. A mechanic has diagnosed several error codes: P0713, P0731, P0733, P0740, P0743, P0133, P0406, P0750, P0753, P0755, P0758, P0760, and P0763. I'm concerned whether these codes are all related to a single underlying issue. Could it be an electrical problem in the transmission system? What steps should I take to diagnose and resolve this issue?
All of the listed codes (except P0133 and P0406) are related to transmission electrical systems. Start with basic checks: inspect all fuses in the underhood fuse box—commonly fuse #37 or #41, depending on engine and transmission configuration. Also verify that there is no remote starter installed, as these can interfere with transmission control signals.
