2003 Ford F250 XLT V10 Stalling Issue with B1362 P1000 and P0231 Fault Codes - Diagnosis Help Needed
I own a 2003 Ford F250 XLT with a 6.8L V10 engine, and I'm experiencing a recurring stalling issue while driving. The truck will suddenly shut off mid-drive, and I have to pull over, place it in park, and restart it. After restarting, the check engine light comes on during the stall but turns off once the engine runs again. I've taken the vehicle to four different mechanics, including a Ford dealership in Elgin, IL, where they diagnosed three stored fault codes: B1362 (P1000), P1000, and P0231. The dealer explained that P0231 relates to fuel pressure issues, but the test results showed normal fuel pressure readings. I replaced the fuel pressure sensor as a fix, which resolved some misfire symptoms, but the stalling issue persists intermittently—especially when cold. The P1000 code appears only during stall events and disappears after restart. I'm now concerned about whether an electrical component or wiring issue (such as a remote starter) could be contributing to this behavior. Any insight into these codes or potential root causes would be greatly appreciated.
A wild guess—could there be a remote starter installed? It might interfere with the engine control system, especially during startup or under load.
