2003 Dodge Neon P0700 Code: What It Means and How to Fix It

Model: 2003 Dodge Neon Fault Code: P0700 Posted: 2014-06-24 13:23

I own a 2003 Dodge Neon and recently received diagnostic code P070-0. I've already performed several mechanical checks and used a code reader to retrieve the fault, which showed P0700. After clearing the code, the check engine light returned shortly after. Based on this behavior, I'm considering replacing the transmission, but I'm not certain if that's the actual solution. The P0700 code indicates there are issues within the transmission system, and further diagnostics may be needed before making such a significant repair.

The transmission may have additional codes—your current code reader might not be able to access them. I would strongly advise against replacing the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) solely based on P0700. This code specifically indicates that there are transmission-related fault codes present, which require further investigation before any major repairs.
